Chemical Consultants Pakistan’s oldest and most diversified Consultancy firm was founded as a registered firm in 1958 . CHEMCON had been associated with virtually every fertilizer, cement and chemical plant in the country.By 1990, It had helped set up projects with an investment of over US $ 5 billion, which at that time amounted to almost 25% of the entire Industrial sector of Pakistan.

CHEMCON has undertaken various projects not only in Pakistan but in Countries such as Sri Lanka, Iran and Tanzania and was the first Consultancy Company to be recognized by the Asian Development Bank and Islamic Bank. CHEMCON had been associated with organisations like the United Nations, UNIDO and the US-AID Mission.

CHEMCON has undertaken feasibility reports and complete projects for all the main Industrial groups in Pakistan. Thus when the Karachi Steel plant was conceived, CHEMCON was asked by the 8 top industrialists in Pakistan favouring the National Steel to organise the consultancy services for the Project. Subsequently the project was nationalised and even then CHEMCON provided Consultancy services for the Russian-made plant. It was named Pakistan Steel Mills and at the time was the largest steel plant of its kind in Asia.

In the Cement sector alone the plants to which CHEMCON had given consultancy services produced about 5 million tons of Cement in 1991-92 representing over 60% of the entire production of Cement in Pakistan.

In the fertilizer sector in 2000-01, 90% of all the Nitrogenous and phosphatic fertilizers were manufactured in Pakistan by plants to which CHEMCON gave consultancy services.

CHEMCON has provided services in the fertilizer sector since the early 1960s. Since then, over 100 separate feasibility studies, market surveys and consultancies have been carried out. Clients have included the Public Sector, local industries, the United Nations, USAID/Islamabad, and the GOP.

CHEMCON has been associated with Fertilizer Projects not only in Pakistan but in countries such as Sri Lanka and Tanzania.

From its early days the staff of Chemical Consultants have been selected from personnel with experience in the Fertilizer Industry. CHEMCON has been associated with nearly all the major projects in the Fertilizer Industry in Pakistan, and as such the staff of the Company have acquired a unique experience of this industry in Pakistan.

In the Fertilizer Industry alone CHEMCON has undertaken complete Consultancy Services for projects under construction or operating with an aggregate investment of over US $ 700 million and market and market and site studies for under construction or operating projects with an aggregate investment of an additional US $ 800 million.

In the petrochemical and chemical industry, CHEMCON has provided complete or partial consultancy services to virtually all the major chemical and petrochemical projects in Pakistan.

All plants built under CHEMCON services and guidance have been successfully operated and have met their guarantees and have proved the high efficiency of our consulting services.

CHEMCON has been providing consultancy services to a number of projects which include complete power station for chemical plants. Among them Multan, Mirpur Mathelo and Daud Khel fertilizer plants and the Kala Shah Kaku complex of industries.

In the petrochemical and chemical industry, CHEMCON has provided complete or partial consultancy services to virtually all the major chemical and petrochemical projects in Pakistan.

CHEMCON furnishes, on the basis of its rich experience, feasibility studies and latest techniques in the fields of Chemical Products, Fertilizers, Cement, Sugar, Glass, Steel, Ceramics, Power Generation, Minerals and Solid Fuels.

The first C.E.O , principal share-holder and founder of the Company was Dr. Ahmad Shah Nawaz, D.Sc.(MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, USA) who was associated with virtually every major project in Pakistan. He was also the Senior UNIDO Consultant for drafting Model Contracts for the Fertilizer Industry.

The present C.E.O and shareholder of the company is Zahur Shahnawaz . In recent years he has been associated with a number of chemical and cement plants in the country. He has also worked on a number of World Bank financed project.

In Consultancy services for the area represented by Iran, Turkey and Pakistan, at the special request of the Government of Pakistan, CHEMCON not only undertook Consultancy services for Pakistan in joint ventures, but also undertook Consultancy services for the Government of Iran in all the chemical joint ventures by Iran.

The Consultancy services offered by CHEMCON have always been dependant upon the latest technology. Thus in the Cement sector alone, the plants set up by CHEMCON were all computer controlled; Fecto Cement containing 814 logically programmed instruments.

CHEMCON were consultants to the fertilizer plant at Daud Khel, the first totally computer controlled plant in Pakistan.

CHEMCON has always been conscious of environmental problems and have been Consultants to the World Bank on the phase out of Ozone depleting substances under the Montreal Protocol in Pakistan.

Apart from the World Bank, CHEMCON has undertaken work for international agencies such as the United Nations Industrial Development Corporation (UNIDO) and the Asian Development Bank . CHEMCON has also undertaken consultancy work for projects financed by other national DFI's such as COFACE (France), KWF (Germany), OECF (Japan) generally in association with companies from those countries. In Pakistan, CHEMCON has worked as Consultants to projects financed by virtually every DFI.
